I need to know what you think of shiny disks and baby-scanners

I have bought PC games in the last year

Yes, and none of them came on disk, they were all downloads

When it gets cheap enough we should scan the genome of all babies at birth?

Yes, it would produce amazing research possibilities, and allow possible issues to be caught as early as possible.

First one from this - which doesn't seem to be an April Fools - apparently EA have made Origin download only, they won't be selling games on disk any more at all. Seems that 99% of people were already download-only. Personally, I can't remember the last time I bought a game that wasn't download-only.

Second one via this. Which has an interesting list of considerations to be taken into account. Personally, I think that the research possibilities are amazing, and so long as privacy is well guarded I think that the benefits will greatly outweigh the costs.
