I need to know what you'd do if you woke up with awful desires

The discussion yesterday about Rolf Harris made me wonder about something - specifically the line "He may well be an entirely innocent man who's been caught up in a witchhunt. Or he might be a horrible, horrible person."

What would you do if you woke up tomorrow with repeated sexual thoughts about 12-year-olds?

Side-thoughts:
What percentage of people have paedophilic thoughts that they never do anything about.
Are child abusers a small percentage of people who have those feelings, but don't control them?
As 5% of people seem to be naturally "bastards", does that imply that 95% of paedophiles live a somewhat troubled life, while only the ones that don't care about others actually engage in abuse?
Have studies been done into how good/bad people are controlling their sexual urges? My bet would be 'not very', considering the number of people who were brought up to hate either all sex or specific kinds of sex, and then do so self-hatingly.
Are there resources for people who are worried they might act abusively to get help?

For an example of people who suddenly wake up with paedophilic thoughts, see this case. Sadly, it now seems that people are using this excuse in multiple cases elsewhere (in at least one case with a_spinal_tumour, which seems remarkably unlikely.) I also bumped into this comic yesterday, which is a nice case of synchronicity.

Oh, and before someone asks, I am _not_ asking about this for myself, or anyone I know. I am very grateful that I don't have any compulsions like that
