So, here's a simple test. If you are making a statement about two groups of people, then replace one of them with "Black People" and the other with "White People". Or, if you're just making a sweeping statement about one group of people, replace the name of that group with "Black People". If your statement now makes you gasp at the insane bigotry contained within, then you're a bigot.
Of course, bigotry just means "hatred/intolerance for a particular group". If you're happy being bigoted towards, for instance, paedophiles, then that's just fine - you can happily say "Yes, I am very intolerant towards this particular group, because I hate what they do."
If you're going to be a bigot, then own it, don't run away from it just because it's a scary word.
