lady face

And then I came home

This morning was spent taking surliminal's cats for their yearly injections.  This was followed by a few hours of relaxation and poll posting, before guyinahat mentioned that the place we were going tonight (The Jam House) had a dress code.  So instead of going to see The Matador I threw myself out into the baltic weather and onto a few buses to get home and find something suitable to wear.

Which I did:

(Ed took the picture when I got back - see here for sillier one).

Anyway, we dropped into Cafe Rouge first, for some very nice food, and myself, guyinahat, surliminal, lee_lou2 and ripperlyn then went onwards to The Jam House, where we listened to a first-class covers band who were clearly too talented to be a covers band, but must have decided that that was where the money was.  There was much dancing until 1am, then I was lucky enough to get a night bus to nearly-home, only to discover that the railway bridge was out, leading to a large detour to actually make the last 300m.

Anyway - cheers to the people who made it out tonight, especially guyinahat for having the idea in the first place, I had a jolly good time.

And now to bed.

Geeky Colour Question

Can anyone point me at a resource which will take an RGB value and tell me the nearest 'name' to it?  I can find numerous colour charts with names and what the corresponding colour values are, but I want to go the other way round...

Woeful incompetence

So, having sat down to do a small C# project, I realised I was still using the beta of Visual C# Express.  No problem, I thought - I'll grab the latest version.  So I downloaded the setup, started the install, and it told me I had to uninstall the beta versions _in a specific order_ before I could install the full version.

Now, the install/uninstall of software is easily automated.  This being the case, why the fuck doesn't the full version's installer _automatically_ remove them all in the right order?

More to the point - part of what .Net does is allow the installation of  software into its own folders, without cross-dependencies.  This being the case, why does the installation/uninstallation of software have to go in any particular order at all???
