Illuminati

It's not about the oil

For those of you who were just starting to think that maybe the US interest in Afghanistan was purely military and based around the war against terrorism, click here to read about the new US oil pipeline worth $3.2 billion that's now going to be laid through it.

Many years ago, when the earth was but newly formed, a young man called Quentin Tarantino watched too many gangster films and produced his own set of films based around the world of organised crime.

Then, having completed these works, he retreated for a while and watched many martial arts films before setting out to create one of these.

The trailer for which you can see here.

It kicks ass, by the way.

Going back through the large pile of detritus on my desk, I come across the front cover of the Guardian for the 21st of November this year.

It shows a piece of paper mocked up to look like it was torn from a dictionary, and it reads like this:

fuck /fAk/ v. formerly coarse slang 1 Mild expression of exasperation or surprise, equiv. cripes, crikey, blimey, damn, darn, dash it all. 2 n. Neglibible amount of concern (esp in. I couldn't give a) 3 Conversational device favoured by Brit. middle classes to obscure speakers social background (as in Didn't you think the Pinter series on BBC4 was fucking brilliant?) 4 Non-specific verbal punctuation device favoured by C21 Brit. children. equiv. umm, errr 5 fucking ppl a. & adv Adjective enforcing adverb cf. very, exceedingly, rather jolly.

The article it led into is here and well worth reading.
