In the discussion Here on digital radio, people talk about podcasts removing the need for digital radio, because if they want something niche they can just download the podcast files instead.

And I'm curious as to whether those people are downloading it before they leave for the day, or if we've now reached the point where people have so much bandwidth that they can download podcasts without worrying about it. I think that stereo low-quality music files are around 1MB/minute, so if you download an hour-long podcast that's 60MB - do that each working day and you're talking 1.2Gig over a month. Trivial over a landline, but possibly more than most people have on their phones.
