I don't seem to have much of an immune system

Stuart at work had a slight cough on Thursday. And, by Friday, so did I. His slight cough vanished after 24 hours. Mine persisted until today, getting steadily worse, until I am sat here at 4am, surfing the internet while sucking a Strepsil so that I'm not waking Julie up more than I have to, and she can get a decent night's sleep. I could really do without this. Also, without the intermittent hot and cold sweats I've been getting since Saturday. Really, what kind of a ridiculous design is this body?

A very good one, as without your immunue system causing these reactions while it works out a way to defeat the virus, you would probably die from the infestation.

Clearly it needs to be more efficient at it. Five days of annoying coughing is too long. Frankly, it should be shunting the stuff that's going into my stomach via my throat directly into my stomach, and avoiding the whole breathing area entirely.

Even the invincible me has succumbed twice this year to coughs and I NEVER get them, even if I am not in tiptop shape right now, they do seem to be especially vicious this year. If it is a dry cough (no gack) I highly recommend Boots Nirolex night time cough syrup. Really does work.

There's very little stuff going down the back of my throat, and I'll try some of the cough syrup tonight and see if means I don't spend half an hour up in the middle of the night!

There do seem to have been a couple of very nasty bugs around this last month. I had a sore throat about 3 weeks ago that turned into a chest infection. And my parents, neither of whom are susceptable to these sorts of bugs in the way I am, are also both still coughing and spluttering.

Virus. Peh. What use are they.
