As they seem to be making the rounds of the cooler bits of my friends list, I'm picking these two time-travel short stories off of [info]andyduckerlinks:
What if history was like wikipedia.
and
Alternate History Search Results.

Both of which are variations on the "What if Hitler was killed by a time-traveller?" meme.
And both of which are very funny.

Yeah, I picked up on that too.

They'll be sitting together on the next [info]linkfrenzy

Actually, I often find that, quite independently, you'll get a few interesting things of a similar theme bog along together. Steam-engine time, I guess.

I got Scalzi's story as a comment to my link to the first, which I saw when looking at your link to Boing Boing on the A C Clarke post. We all go around in circles it seems.

I'm surprised I hadn't already read the Scalzi story, must've been busy when it came out.

We're all parasites on each other, churning the links round and round, and only rarely producing anything other than commentary on the world.

I use TheWeaselKing, JWZ, you, LinkFrenzy, WarrenEllis and others. And my friends use me :->

Still, passes the time.

I just read a whole book on this kind of thing...
http://www.buy.com/prod/one-lamp-alternate-history-stories-from-the-magazine-of-fantasy/q/loc/106/33862166.html#

which I think had the latter one you posted in it. They weren't all great, but some were just lovely :)
