Linux doesn't. It's the feculent pile of crap that is Skype, not being written by anyone who understands how to load and unload a kernel module cleanly on the fly.
(You get this shit on OS/X, too: it's most annoying, but most such badly-written installers succumb to a brisk kill -9.)
That's a bit strong (Writing on a MacBook). Making their OS upon a UNIX kernel can only be considered a good move and compared to Windoze its a positive pleasure to use.
That said iTunes on a PC sucks.
Perhaps all Apple software not on an Apple platform...
In the last 8 years of using Linux I've never been asked to reboot, I have been asked a lot on Windows and occasionally on OS X. I'm quite amazed that you were asked at all tbh.
Huh, I was asked to reboot for something a while ago. Can't remember for the life of me what it was for, but it did make me go "wha'? Reboot? Whassat?" ;)
The Xandros distro that ships on the Eee is a pile of crap. And what Asus have done to it to fit it on the Eee is little short of an abomination. Their software updater insists on rebooting every time you update something/move the mouse. My advice: nuke Xandros and install eeeXubuntu (preferably with the kernel patch to make USB mounted block devices persist across ACPI sleep). Now that's a working linux distro for the Eee ...
