Dad and Hugh both got given bunches of board games for Christmas.  We came back up from Kent yesterday, and I said bye to Hugh and Meredith at 8-ish.  I was then back over at his today to play more boardgames.  And then I came home and Susan/[info]a_pawson came over, bringing board games with them...  I have, thereore, over the last week played vast amounts of games including:

Settlers of Catan, Caylus, Puerto Rico, Carcassone, Bausack (which is not actually a board game, but more like Jenga in reverse, with bidding), Fluxx and World of Warcraft (which was much better than I expected and very good fun - usually board games of other media are terrible cash-ins).

I look forward to getting a few more games in here and there before work starts again on the 3rd...

It's been years since I've played board games. I don't think they come out with new ones much anymore, now that everyone (or at least most people) have computers. I envy you and your friends. No one around here plays board games anymore. I miss them!

:-)

Settlers is now 10 years old, but Carcassonne was brought out in 2001 and Caylus is new this year. There are still board games coming out - the Germans are very big on them - but finding people can be harder than finding the games themselves.

I love Fluxx. The randomness is wonderful.

What does the game of Carcassone involve?

Tiles are placed by each person in turn, attempting to make (and control) roads, cities and farmland.

Interesting.

I should make an attempt to play more board games.
